TTTTT - Terry Tan's Travels : Touchdown, Tokyo
Alright, it was arduous flight.. THERE WAS NO IN HOUSE MOVIE! What da feck. 5 hr flight.. no movies nor games? So much for the Thais being generous with their smiles, how about their airlines being more generous with the services?
Ooo. And their airport.. the NEW airport. Well, it may be big, but it seems as if someone forgot to bring in any furniture, or even paint it. It looks somewhat like a refurbished power station (think the Tate Modern), with steel pipes everywhere and poor lightning. And I had myself preoccupied with FOUR shops in the entire airport during my 2 hrs transit. Joy.
Landed in Narita Airport at 7pm (1 hr ahead of Singapore), and once again, I was disappointed. By the lack of people this time. Being Tokyo's international airport, I'd expected it to be a lil' more populated, furthermore on a Saturday night. Shops and restaurants close by 8pm, and there wasn't much to do once again. There were barely any vehicles around and the neighbourhood where my apartment is situated is awfully quiet. You'll kinda wonder where in the heck the 12 million residents of Tokyo are on a weekend.
Dropped by Roppongi after checking in. It isn't exactly a district you'll go with your parents for it's basically nightclubs, bars and some sleazy hangouts where hawt girls with high stockings and skirts that barely cover their arses are in abundance. Lol. I kinda feel that as I grow up, holidaying with parents aren't as fun anymore. I feel restricted and frequently annoyed at some decisions they make that shamelessly declare "Hey! We are from Singapore and we're here to promote Kiasuism!"
Not that I am implying that my fingers should be in the pants of a girl now instead of twaddling on my laptop, I do wish I had the freedom to roam about and do what I would do on a holiday. Which reminds me.. the smokes here are wickedly cheap! 300 yen a pack, which isn't more than $5. Had I been with a buddy, I would be sitting half-naked by the porch puffing and having beer with Japansese crackers just like a couple of blokes. Or I could enjoying the cool breeze and the lights of the Tokyo skyline if I had a girlfriend with me.
Oh well, day 2 tomorrow, or rather now. My cousin, Druce, told me to make the best out of the trip. Haha, but telling a cynical paranoid to do so isn't gonna really helpful. Gonna count on the bright colours of the revolting Harajuku fashion to 'brighten' up my day. *roffles*
